Commentary
Back when A Sunder was created, you needed to have a level 50 hero, on any server, before the two epic archtypes (peacebringers and warshades, commonly known as "Kheldians") would unlock. It took me over a year to get my first level 50 (Colt Blue). I don't remember whether A Sunder was created that day or not, but I know it was soon after the event.
Kheldian characters had two souls in one body. The first was physical and generally human, but could be any origin imaginable (so long as there was a physical body). The second was the pure Kheldian, a refugee energy-being from another planet. The melding of the two was generally amicable, as it was in A Sunder's case. In fact, he so liked the joining that his hero-name was based upon it, in a backwards sort of way. My first choice would have been "Asunder", but it had already been taken. It would have paired nicely with my Kheldian warshade, Meld.
My happiest memory concerning A Sunder involved a friend's return to the game. For many months, Laciel had been a frequent teammate of the afore-mentioned Colt Blue. That high degree and consistency of teaming is in fact how he become my first 50. Then one day Laciel stopped playing, desiring to test other gaming waters. Many months later, A Sunder was soloing on Striga Isle, and he happened to check his list of global friends. And, lo, Laciel was online! (Having realized how much City of Heroes offered that no other MMO game did, Laciel remained a regular player (and frequent teammate) until the game's end.)
