I opened up my book in panic. I was a fairly smart kid, but memorizing 18 elements and their atomic symbols in less than ten minutes?!? How the heck was I going to do that? (Even as a kid I did not swear much.) Let's see, Hydrogen, H, I know Hydrogen. Helium, He, got it. Lithium, Li, ... this is hopeless. I guess I'm going to fail my first quiz. ... BUT – wait a minute! There is something here. Don't think of them as 18 elements. It's just two friends. You're just saying hi to two friends, H HeLiBeBC NOFNe and NaMgAlSiPS ClAr. Almost instantly the eighteen Atomic Symbols were indelibly etched into my mind, just by pronouncing them. (Yes, I still remember them, 40-odd years later.) And they weren't just 18 symbols, they were 18 hints as to the full chemical names. I had five or so minutes to straighten out stuff like, "B is boron, Be is beryllium", but I got it. By George, I aced the quiz!
So sometimes I can be quick. Other times, such as with leetspeak (or 1337), I still don't get. The seemingly random mixture of lower and upper case letters, mixed with numbers and punction – how the heck does anyone read that? I just wanted to create a name that looked 1337, but actually was not. How about mixing something that I almost magically know, with something I never will?
He is an effective scrapper. Being regen, he could skip the Siphon Life and Dark Consumption attacks. That made room for Jump Kick and Spring Attack from the Leaping Pool. (He did end up with Siphon Life as his final power choice. It was taken more for the damage than the self-heal aspect.)
The eye reticle represents his high accuracy (via Tactics), and his Atomic chest emblem, his background as a chemist.
